SWEATER CONSTRUCTION

Understand how to work different types of sweaters

Course curriculum

This class begins with the basics of sweater construction — yes, accessible even for a first-time sweater knitter! — and then offers an in-depth look at each of the four most common types of sweater construction in the knitting world: raglan, drop shoulder, set-in sleeve, and circular yoke.

For each construction type, you get:

  • A definition & identifying details
  • An explanation for how it is worked, including top down/bottom up and seamed/seamless methods
  • A list of the most common fit issues
  • An overview of the best options for working adjustments

About the instructor

Jaq Cieslak is an Oakland-based knitwear designer with 15 years of teaching experience. This class, like all their work, is framed by their perspective as a fat, nonbinary knitter with a commitment to body & gender neutral instruction.
